Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in North Castle, NY
Recently, a client of the firm was arrested for two counts of possessing a controlled substance as a felony. These are serious charges that can result in a state prison sentence.
The client was a passenger in a motor vehicle and the driver was stopped for speeding along I-684 in the Town of North Castle. The State Trooper claimed to smell marijuana emanating from the vehicle and decided to search the entire vehicle (interesting to note that no marijuana was found creating an important search and seizure issue). During the search drugs were located in the trunk of the vehicle.
The client was a business professional with various licenses so an aggressive defense was essential to the client's reputation and ability to keep employment.
Our office defended that matter and it was ultimately agreed to by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office and the North Castle Court that the case should be dismissed. Our office also worked closely with the client's employer to protect the various licenses and the client's job.
